I don't know

Last week out great President, President Obama declared in his first State of the Union address that its time for America to finally repeal the law that denies openly gay Americans the right to serve in the country that they love. A new Gallup poll shows that 69% of Americans support allowing gays and lesbians to serve in the military. This is a huge amount of Americans that believe this, and it is showing how much America is changing. Today there are 25 countries that are allowing gays to openly serve in their armed forces, this includes are neighbor to the north Canada. Even one of are biggest friends the British military has been allowing gays to serve in there military since 2000. So if they are allowing this why haven’t we done this yet? But there is a lot of reason why people are against this policy, one of the reason why I feel like that this could become a problem is the safely of the openly gay member of the armed force. I have been in the military in the past and I know that if can be very difficult for someone with different view points then your high ranking officers, they are going to use any advantage they can to get to you and they to break you. They are not going to hind anything from the whole rest of the kids who are in training with them. I think that it would make training even more difficult for the kids who are openly gay, and I personal believe that this is going to be unfair to them. I would rather see them keep this inside for there own safely. But this is also very difficult this to think about because it is 2010 and it is time for also to get rid of all labels that could prevent someone from following there dreams. So why should someone who is perfectly healthy be able to serve there country? I think that the Don’t ask, Don’t tell policy is actually the perfect way to go about this problem in America. I want openly gay Americans to be able to follow there dreams but I want them to make sure that they are going to be safe during there time that they are serving there country so I am in the middle to keep things the way it is.
